Serving The Community of Emporia, Kansas
The Emporia Police Benefit Association was established in 1989. The founding members of the EPBA wanted to create an organization that can help serve the community and bridge the gap between the Emporia Police Officers and the citizens of Emporia.
Over the years we have enthusiastically pursued this goal. As we start 2019, we are continuing our goal of serving the community. The EPBA raises money for many different non-profits that operate in our community. We have been working to increase the amount of funding we have to be able to provide more for Emporia. Recently, one of our annual events has continued to do well and help us with that funding. The Lap the Lakes gravel bike race raised just below $4000.00 in 2018 which we happily shared with Camp Alexander to provide camper scholarships. Every year our events grow in size and help us to better serve our community. One of our favorite events to put on is the movie in the parks.
These events have grown tremendously over the past few years. The movie in the park allows us to get together with hundreds of citizens and watch one of our favorite films. This also allows our off duty Officers a chance to spend time with the community and their family in a great environment.
It must be said, though, that the EPBA and all the things we do cannot be achieved without our numerous community partners. We continue to reach out to local businesses to create a working relationship with them and partner in building a stronger community.
